What are the other most common band-aid emergencies for kids?
Cuts & Grazes
Cuts and grazes are as common as brushing your teeth for the under 12’s. Whether it’s from braving the type rope of fallen tree’s, scaling enormous hills to get to the castle, scurrying on hands and knees to avoid flying saucers or tackling monsters on the stairs kids will more often than not come back at the end of the day needing a big bubble bath and a quick application of Nelsons Hypercal Cream, to help heal cuts and grazes quickly.
Stinging nettles
The den at the end of the garden seemed like a good idea at the time, but unfortunately it was in the same spot as a big patch of stinging nettles. The best remedy for a sting from nettles is to immediately rub the area with dock leaves, which are usually found nearby, but if you cant see any, make sure you have Nelsons Pyrethrum Spray to hand to help stop the itching. Ice can also help cool down the area.
Hay fever
This annoying seasonal ailment is now classed as one of the commonest chronic diseases of childhood, along with asthma and eczema. Who wants to sneezing and watery eyes to interfere with spring and summer days playing in the park? With hay fever now starting earlier than ever, parents will be pleased to hear that Nelsons’ Pollenna provides an effective, natural, side-effect free solution.
Pollenna works by stimulating the body’s own natural healing processes to provide effective relief for the symptoms of hay fever. Unlike most other hay fever tablets, Pollenna is non-drowsy- so also ideal for teenagers during exam times.
Remember, start taking Pollenna early to enable your body time to build up its own natural defences.
Bites and Stings
Kids have a fascination with insects, but this can sometimes mean that they get too close to ones they shouldn’t and when cornered, insects can lash out resulting in a sharp sting. Deal with them quickly by -
- Removing the sting, if still present, with tweezers
- Apply Nelsons Pyrethrum spray immediately to reduce stinging and soreness
- Apply a cold compress to help quickly relieve pain and minimise swelling
- If pain and swelling persist or increase over the following 24 to 48 hours, so to the doctor
